Northview Neighborhood Nights Kickoff event on Thursday, March 5th

Northview residents are invited to come together for Northview Neighborhood Night Thursday, March 5th from 6-8:30pm at the Vineyard Church at 2400 Casement Road. Food and childcare will be provided and accessible for spanish speaking residents.

Neighborhood Nights are a fun, safe, and inclusive space for residents to come together, build community, and build a healthier and more connected neighborhood. Currently, life expectancy in Northview is nearly 10 years lower than in neighborhoods just 2 miles to the west and is one of the only food deserts in Riley County.

Neighborhood Nights are organized by Northview Rising, a neighborhood association in the Northview area whose mission is to bring people together to create a healthier, more connected neighborhood.

This kickoff event will mark the first of a series of monthly Neighborhood Nights that are co-organized by Northview Rising, Kansas State University Landscape Architecture students, the Flint HIlls Wellness Coalition, and the Riley County Health Department to identify concrete ways to improve the health and quality of life in the neighborhood and empower residents to take action.

Northview Rising began in December of 2017 and has successfully advocated for equitable investment in the neighborhood, including a public multipurpose community space and a kitchen in the new Eisenhower Community Center, signage and lighting on the Old Blue River Trail, and organized the 2018 Northview Block Party. This event is supported by funds from the Sunflower Foundation, the Kansas Health Foundation, and the hard-earned dollars of Northview residents.
